16 Years ago the popularity of stereoscopic 3D for cinema and personal entertainment exploded.
I learned the craft of filming in 3D in Munich from Florian Mayer (Stereotec) and Kommer Kleijn, an internationally renowned stereographer. It was the start of several 3D productions worldwide.
But the interest in 3D disappeared as quickly as it emerged. One of the reasons was the inconvenience of the glasses. Not a big issue in cinema, but hard to accept at home. 3D failed because the technology was not mature enough to meet user's needs.
Another important reason of the decline was the oversaturation of the market with inferior films with badly processed 3D.

Native 3D
We use 2 identical camera's & lenses on a stereo rig. The quality of the camera's and lenses are depending on the budget. 3D works best with a high resolution & high frame rate. After precise & accurate post-production of the 2 'eyes', the result can be viewed in cinema, on a TV with the use of glasses, or on the new spatial monitors without the use of glasses. Sometimes we offer a combination of native 3D and 2D to 3D conversion.
High quality conversion for cinema and 3D monitors (TV)
We transform your 2D film to stereoscopic 3D, with accuracy and correctness. This conversion produces stereo video of similar quality to native stereo witch is shot with 2 camera's and accurately adjusted and aligned in post-production.
Even big stereo 3D blockbusters are partially filmed in 2D
Reasons for filming in 2D instead of 3D stereo can be financial, technical or artistic. Professional stereoscopic rigs are expensive and bulky on the filmset. They can produce various mismatches such as vertical parallax, tilt, color shift, reflections and glares, that should be fixed in post-production. The distance to the subject can be a restriction, over 15 meter the stereo separation would be virtually nil. Hard-to-shoot scenes are often shot in 2D, it is simpler to perform 2D to stereo.
